Changes in the UK agriculture sector take place at an ever-increasing pace, exacerbated by flurries of EU legislation. Farmers face the challenges of consumer attitudes towards food issues, such as GM foods and organic farming, environmental groups exert greater influence than before and changes to the Common Agricultural Policy. These all combine to make farming one of the most complex UK business sectors and one where expert advice is essential to ensure compliance and successful operation.

Thring Townsend Lee & Pemberton's nationally recognised Agriculture Team has advised a cross section of farming, land-owning clients and agri-businesses on all aspects of agricultural law and matters affecting land-ownership. We are proactive in keeping our clients up-to-date with changes in the law, as well as providing them with commercial and pragmatic advice.

The team also advises on the structure and day-to-day running of agricultural and rural businesses. We are retained by the NFU as their recommended solicitors in eleven counties, and have close connections with the CLA, HTA and TFA. We are also panel lawyers of AMC. Members of our team are active members of various specialist committees and are frequently asked to give talks on a wide range of agricultural subjects.

We have extensive experience of dealing with agricultural-related litigation, particularly contractual disputes, disputes with DEFRA /RPA, environmental law, Agricultural Holdings and issues involving access to land.

Members of the team also have strong reputations in the areas of CAP/MTR, the buying and selling of complex farm properties, and agri-businesses.

We have a breadth and depth of knowledge that has earned us a place amongst the top firms in the South West and in London in this complex field of law and, as a result, advise many country-based clients nationwide.
